Mogadishu, Somalia – 12 October 2025 – Youth Connect Somalia marked International Youth Day 2025 with a vibrant event in Mogadishu, bringing together young people from across the country to celebrate youth-led initiatives and champion positive change.

This year’s theme, “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” highlighted the critical role Somali youth play in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contributing to sustainable community development.

The celebration featured panel discussions, interactive workshops, and exhibitions where youth participants shared their experiences, innovative projects, and success stories. Government officials, community leaders, and representatives from youth organizations attended the event, emphasizing the importance of empowering young people to actively participate in shaping Somalia’s future.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Salaamullah, Chairman of Youth Connect Somalia, stressed that young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow but active agents of change today.

“At Youth Connect Somalia, we recognize that young people face unique challenges that can limit their potential and participation in society. Our programs and initiatives are designed to empower youth, amplify their voices, and create opportunities for meaningful engagement in all aspects of community life.” he said.

The International Youth Day event organized by Youth Connect Somalia reinforced the significance of youth engagement in achieving the SDGs and inspired innovative local actions with the potential for global impact.
