MOGADISHU – Youth Connect Somalia on Wednesday organized a high-level meeting in Mogadishu aimed at sharing ideas on youth participation in national affairs. The forum brought together government officials, including ministers, members of parliament, directors of institutions, and leaders of youth organizations.

The discussions highlighted the critical role of young people in Somalia’s politics, social development, and peacebuilding processes. Participants emphasized that, despite representing the majority of the population, Somali youth remain largely excluded from formal political structures and lack official government representation.

The debate also examined the broader direction and development of the country, stressing the need for inclusive decision-making that reflects the voices of young people.

In a panel discussion, speakers unanimously agreed on the importance of equipping Somali youth with knowledge, leadership skills, and opportunities to actively contribute to nation-building. They urged policymakers to create pathways for young people to engage in governance, dialogue, and community initiatives.

The meeting concluded with a call for stronger collaboration between government institutions, civil society, and youth organizations to ensure that the next generation is empowered to lead Somalia towards peace, stability, and sustainable development.
